Camping on Galveston Beach

We decided - last minute - to go camping on the beach this weekend! We had lots of adventures, beginning with trying to find the campground in the dark! Apparently there used to be a blinking yellow light marking the turnoff, but it hasn't been repaired since the hurricane. After we found it, Jon pitched the tent and made a fire and we roasted marshmallows and hotdogs! Sadly, the thought of eating of marshmallows, chocolate, and even hotdogs was not nearly as much fun for me as actually roasting them (someone save my taste buds--only eight more months to go!). We enjoyed walking to the beach that night too.

The next morning Kaia and I played on the beach while Jon ran for an hour. Kaia was a little nervous about the water until I told her that it was warm like a bath. After that, she was the one making me nervous!

After we showered and cleaned up we went to Moody Gardens for the afternoon. They were having an Educator Open House, so Jon and I had free admission to everything. Kaia, since she is still under three, also had free admission!
